All together everything is better.

Last week, our teacher told us to do a little story. She showed us a webpage called storybird. Here you can choose the images for the story, it's easy because when you choose one picture the page shows you the relative images. There are a lot of different pictures. Then you can choose what you want to write: a poem, a short story... You decide the design of the cover and...you can write!
I think that it's a funny experience and you can learn how to write a story.
Here's my story, hope you like it!

Camino de Santiago

From the 21st to the 25th of March I went to the Camino de Santiago with my friends and two teachers from the highschool. I decided to do it because I wanted to meet Santiago de Compostela, its cathedral and the Galician landscape too.
We only did about 70 kilometres because we went for five days and we hadn't got enough time. We did four stages:

  • From Palas de Rei to Melide.
  • From Melide to Arzúa.
  • From Arzúa to O Pedrouzo.
  • From O Pedrouzo to Monte do Gozo and to Santiago de Compostela.
The travel was fantastic! We ate a lot of delicious food like "raxo", squid and sandwiches...we needed energy because we did much exercise. I think that's funny to see us sleep at ten o'clock (it's very early!), we were really tired.
While we were walking, we talked, we sang... we laughed a lot. We have spent a very good time!!
The cathedral was lovely and enormous, the organ's melodies were incredible. When we saw the Botafumeiro I thaught that it could fall on us, it's wonderful! Santiago de Compostela was very beautiful, you can see its beauty in these pictures:

Saint Patrick's Day

Word cloud made with WordItOut

The 17th of March is Saint Patrick's Day. It's an Irish festival, but it's celebrated in EEUU too. There are parades, special food...and people dye rivers in green!!

Saint Patrick was kidnapped when he was sixteen and he was a slave. After he had travelled around Europe he escaped and he studied Religion. Then he returned to Ireland and there he used the shamerock to explain the Holy Trinity. There's a legend that says that Saint Patrick drove out snakes from Ireland because the snakes are a pagan symbol.
Some of Saint Patrick symbols are colour green, leprechauns, the shamerock...

Marilyn Monroe.

She was born in Los Angeles in 1926. Her true name was Norma Jean Mortenson. She was a very famous actress because of her beauty and her wonderful acting skills for comedies and dramas. She had got three husbands: first she was married to James Dougherty, then, to Joe DiMaggio and finally, to Arthur Miller.
She lived her childhood between orphanages because her mother had mental health problems. Her first film was 'Ladies of the Chorus' in 1948 but it wasn't succesful. She acted in different films like 'The asphalt jungle' or 'All about Eve' and at the same time she worked as a model.
She began to be famous with the film 'Monkey bussiness' in 1951 where she showed her final image: platinum curly hair.

BEFORE

AFTER

Hollywood didn't value her because of her artistic talents, they only valued her because of her beauty. They didn't think that she had her own opinions. So she decided to organise her own film production in 1957. She debuted with the film 'The Prince and the Showgril' which was filmed in London.
Marilyn returned to Hollywod and filmed 'Some Like It Hot' in 1959.

She killed herself with pills in 1962 leaving an unfinished film: 'Something's got to give. Police believe that she killed herself because of her trouble love life, because people didn't think about her as an actress with her own opinions, they thought about her beauty and her sensuality and due her bad childhood.

You aren't alone.

When people say bad things to someone, when they hit that person...they're bullying him/her. That person is going to be sad and to feel alone too. If you're one of those bad treated people you mustn't shut up, you have to tell somebody about the situation as soon as possible. Sure there are people who want to help you. Don't wait more! It's essential to finish with bullying!
Finally, I made a comic about the bullying.
 Hope you like it!

The ESL Times has published my comic and I'm vey happy because of this!

Monsters and candies.

WHAT'S HALLOWEEN?
Trick or treat! Halloween(All Hallows' Evening, literally the evening before the 'Feast of All Saints') is a party celebrated on the night of 31st October.Halloween celebrates a lot of things, like the lives of people who aren't with us any more.

ORIGIN.
Its history isn't clear...3000 years ago, the Celtics(people who lived in Ireland, England, Scotland and France) celebrated the end of year on 31st October with the Samhain. They practiced religious and spiritual rites because they thought that this night dead people resurrected.

TRADITIONS.
At night, people disguise as monsters(zombies, ghosts, whitches, vampires...) and go house to house saying 'trick or treat'(disguised people ask for candies and if they don't get them, they do a trick to the people who don't give candies).

Jack-o-lantern is a carved pumkin used as a lamp to scare bad spirits.
Most popular sweets: nutty ghosts, spider cakes, frigthful sweets, shortbread fingers...
People gather around a bonfire and they tell scary stories.

FEATURES.
-Characteristic colours are orange(represents the fall Harvest) and black(represents the darkness).
-Halloween symbols:
   *Owl (good luck charm).
   *Bat (bad augury).
   *Black cat (spirit's reincarnations).
   *Ghosts (they represent the deseaseds).
*Masks (they're used for scare bad spirits).
*Moon (it's a midpoint between life and dead).

-There are some superstitions too:
*A person born on Halloween can see spirits and talk to them.
*If you ring a bell, you can scare bad spirits.

SCARY SONGS.
Here is a video with scary songs from movies.

And this is an actually song from a group called 'Evanescence' that I think is perfect for Halloween.

Hope you enjoy it!

Vertigo.

Last weekend I watched a very, very, very interesting film:

It's about a policeman called John Fergusson who saw a man falling from a roof. Then, he began to be fright of heights. He retired from his job because of his vertigo. One day, an old friend called John asked him a favour: he had to keep watch over his wife Madeleine because his friend believed that she was possessed by a spirit. John began to keep an eye over her, he followed Madeleine all day. Suddenly, she fell in the sea. John ran to save her. When she waked up, they began to talk and John fell in love with her. They went to visit a church. She ran up the stairs and she jumped from the roof. John couldn't believe what he had seen, she was dead.

John was very sad for a long time. One day, he saw a woman who was alike Madeleine called Julie. He asked her to have dinner together and she said 'yes'. She fell in love with him, but John only wanted to transformate Julie in Madeleine. He bought her the same clothes and he took her to the hairdresser's to change her hairstyle. She did all that he wanted because she loved him too much. But John didn't know a thing: SHE WAS 'MADELEINE'. All had been a plan from his old 'friend': His wife was really mad, but he used Julie for deceive John and make him believe that she was died. Who really died was the real Madeleine because John's 'friend' threw her from the roof. John realised of it when he went with Julie to the church where Madeleine died. He was very angry. A nun came into the church and Julie felt so sorry that she got frightened and fell from the roof and died.

I think that Vertigo is a very good film because it's interesting from the beginning to the end. It's a very passionate film with a lot of mistery. I recommend to watch it. It's wonderful!
